Bar & Catering
Overview:
We have a large three storey clubhouse, which includes a bar and lounge area, and a function room (known as the Dowsing Room) which has full catering facilities and can accommodate up to 100 people seated.
Our bar is open to members and their guests 7 days each week, both lunchtimes and evenings. We are also open lunchtime on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with the bar traditionally operated by the Commodore and Vice Commodore respectively on these days.
The main function room (Dowsing Room) is also available for hire at a modest fee to members for their own functions: celebrations, weddings, wakes etc. (click here for further details).
Sue Stripe is Benfleet Yacht Club's "Steward" and has full responsibility for the smooth running of the bar.
Bar Opening Times:
Saturday's - when "no" evening functions are scheduled*
- Afternoon - 12:00 to 18:00 (closed evenings)

Saturday's - when an "evening function" is scheduled*:
- Lunchtime - 12:00 to 15:00
- Evening - times to suit function start and finish

Sundays - 12:00 to 18:00 (closed evenings)

Monday to Fridays:
- Lunchtimes - 11:30 to 14:30
- Evenings - 19:30 to 22:30
Bank / Public Holidays - bar opening times are from 12:00 to 18:00, but may change in the event of activities or a function taking place.
Please note that members will still be able to use the 'small bar' when a function is held.
* = There are typically 10 Saturday evening functions held at BYC throughout the year.
Catering: "Sailors Rest" Kitchen:
Food is supplied by our in-house caterer Kirsty Steward.
The Sailors Rest Kitchen will be open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes each week.
Kirsty will also be able to provide food for members private functions held in the clubhouse.
Here's a few examples on offer to tempt you:
- Full English Breakfast
- Egg / Mushrooms / Beans on Toast
- Freshly made Pizza's
- Freshly made sandwiches, baguettes or Panini with salad or crisps with a choice of fillings
- Jacket Potatos with a choice of fillings
- Children's portions available too
