Membership Categories & Fees

Membership costs and joining fee's are shown in the summary below

Mooring and boat storage costs are available on the main notice board in the reception area at Benfleet Yacht Club, or alternatively, please contact the 'Membership Secretary' Mrs Wendy Webster click here to send an email.

There are few 'examples' of typical boat mooring and storage fee's shown on the "About Benfleet Yacht Club" page.

Details of Membership Categories:

Full Membership

Prospective members are proposed and seconded by existing members and attend a short interview held at the club. If accepted, and once all fee's are paid, the Full Member will then have full use of the club's facilities. (However, please contact the Bosun before bringing a boat on site, or the Dinghy Captain in the event of a sailing dinghy).

Temporary Membership

Prospective new members not knowing two full members of the Club may apply for "temporary membership" and should provide the details (names and addresses) of two people who know you well from whom we may obtain references, such as your employer, the secretary of another club to which you belong, or a person of similar standing. This entitles you to apply for 'temporary' membership. This is automatically amended to full membership after one year, subject to BYC Committee approval.

Associate Membership

Available to partners or family of Full / Temporary Members, who are over the age of 18 years, are not keeping a boat locally and are living at the same address. Other situations may be accepted at the discretion of the General Committee.

Cadet Membership

Available to young people in the age range from 7 until 18 years of age.

Student Membership

Available to members (not owning a "cruising yacht") between the ages of 18-22 years inclusive.
Members in "Full Time Education" outside of this age range are also eligible to apply for this membership category (at Committee discretion).

Country Membership

Available to people living more than 20 miles by road from the club and not keeping a boat locally.

Full details of membership criteria and conditions can be found in the club's printed General Rule book.

Please note: Applicants for membership with "Rowing" as their primary boating interest, will also be required to join 'British Rowing': minimum Silver Membership. For further details see www.britishrowing.org
