First Aid Training

A one-day course covering all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. Aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.
Content includes: The recovery position in a confined space, CPR, including the drowning protocol, cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure, seasickness and dehydration, medical assistance or advice by VHF, helicopter rescue.
Course venue - Benfleet Yacht Club.
Minimum age: 15 years old.
Maximum number of candidates per course is 12.
Cost £60.00 per person
The cost includes the provision and use of all the training equipment including:
- 1 manikin to every 2 persons
- 1 training AED to every 2 persons
- Use of choking vest
- Training auto injectors (epi-pens)
- Pen per person
- Resuscitation face shield per person
- Paramedic and Lifeboat helmsman trainer
On successful completion of the course, you will also receive a certificate valid for 3 years and a RYA First Aid Manual and Reference Guide.
This course will primarily be run for the clubs in-house dinghy sailing instructors. However, there will be further places available for members of BYC.

Terms and Conditions for booking (the small print):
1) Every attempt will be made to ensure the event runs. However, the course organiser reserves the right to cancel the event at any time where it believes that cancellation is necessary due to unsuitable conditions or insufficient numbers. In this case, a full refund will be given.
2) Any withdrawals / cancellations by the participant will receive a full refund, unless it is less than one week prior to the start of the course. Within one week prior to the start date, any refunds (in full or in part) will be dependent on the reason for the cancellation, the ability to fill the place that becomes available and / or a 10% admin charge.
