First Aid Training
A one-day course covering all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. Aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.
Content includes: The recovery position in a confined space, CPR, including the drowning protocol, cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and/or exposure, seasickness and dehydration, medical assistance or advice by VHF, helicopter rescue.
Course venue - Benfleet Yacht Club.
Minimum age: 15 years old.
Maximum number of candidates per course is 12.
Cost £50.00 per person
The cost includes the provision and use of all the training equipment including:
- 1 manikin to every 2 persons
- 1 training AED to every 2 persons
- Use of choking vest
- Training auto injectors (epi-pens)
- Pen per person
- Resuscitation face shield per person
- Paramedic and Lifeboat helmsman trainer
On successful completion of the course, you will also receive a certificate valid for 3 years and a RYA First Aid Manual and Reference Guide.
This course will primarily be run for the clubs in-house dinghy sailing instructors. However, there will be further places available for members of BYC.
Two separate dates have been arranged:
- Sunday 18th May - Time: 9.00am 5.00pm
- Sunday 6th July - Time: 9.00am 5.00pm
