'Virtual' Sailboat Racing is coming to Benfleet Yacht Club
Published 16:18 on 10 Jun 2020
During the current lockdown, several BYC members have started playing an online sailing game: "Virtual Regatta Inshore". This is free to all and provides short races in an open setting for you to pit your wits against the world's best. Many other Yacht Clubs around the country have been doing the same.
BYC have now taken out a subscription to enable us to hold races for BYC members only. This allows up to 20 people to race against each other. Attached is a short PowerPoint presentation (prepared by BYC Cadet Grace Philips) explaining how it works.
We strongly recommend this to anyone who would like a bit of fun on the water, especially to Cadets who may be a bit nervous about racing for real for the first time. Please take a look at the presentation, then send an email (see below) to register your entry. It's free to do so and you have nothing to lose! You don't even have to be an expert sailor in order to compete. There is no damage done if you get it wrong and you don't even get wet.
Email us at email@example.com so we can gauge the level of interest. We also have to choose a time for the races which will be confirmed in a later email. Let us know if you have a preference. The number of races is unlimited but must be organised by the moderator.
Please don't forget to read the presentation (listed in two different formats) created by Grace, which explains in great detail.
Looking forward to seeing you out on the virtual water.
